I thought Anzalduas text was really informative and emotional. you could tell she’s very proud of her culture and her language, she is also very informative about her language. It was also a very raw writing, like she gave the reality of how offensive it is and how often it is that she is almost discriminated against due to her native language. I think her targeted audience for this piece would be people who speak English as their first language and even deeper into that, people who have made comments like, “if you’re in America you need to speak our language”. I definitely feel like I could write something like this. I had my daughter when I was 22 and not married. even though that doesn’t seem like a huge deal, you know I was an adult, I still get judgement and irrational advice on how I should be as a parent and I feel like that is relatable to the tone of her writing.
