I do agree with some of the perceptions expressed by students, mainly where they say “students do think of writing skills as portable from one discipline or context to another”. I think a lot of things we learn in English classes help us majorly in our careers. Whether its making a resume, sending emails, writing letters, etc. I think in this English class I have learned some things helpful for other contexts. Honestly before this class I didn’t know what rhetoric meant regarding writing and English. So that is just a prime example, now that I know what rhetoric means I can analyze information better than before this class.
Like I said above, I think writing helps a lot in business and working.

True facts. Before this in highschool classes, most of this stuff was imparted to me in regular english courses, Pathos, ethos logos, and all that. I personally didn’t take it seriously until now. I think this course has really ramped up the amount of application that writing actually has, and the way that an individual can use it to communicate an intended message. Whenever you want to share or communicate something through speech or writing, there will be your english 1001 education also, haha.
