I haven’t narrowed down my top 3 topics to what I want to do this project on. I do know that I want to focus on the topic of areas for research: analysis of a discourse community and its literate practices. I’m thinking I could do either analysis of the health care field, a specific religion, or the LGBTQ community. What has inspired me to choose either health care field or the LGBTQ community as an option for this project is the fact that I’m apart of both of these communities and I know that there’s a lot of community and support within both. I think it’s important to do either of these just to generally educate people who aren’t apart of either communities and don’t know very much about it.

On the other end of that spectrum, I chose religion as an option because I don’t identify with any specific religion although I was raised around it, but I know that certain religions have really hard core beliefs and views which would make for a great example of a discourse community and would be quite interesting to analyze. I think this would be important to have as a topic because, like the other two choices I listed above, to gain education. I only know what I know about the baptist religion, but there are so many different religions out there that might be eye-opening to not only others but myself.
