Knowledge to me means possessing and retaining information with creative ideas attached to said information. I feel like Hyland defines knowledge by the numbers, differences in citations including the number of cites, how they’re incorporated and what verbs are used. Learning to me is gaining knowledge and understanding amongst different topics. knowledge is the retention of information and its important because you can be given all the information in the world but unless you comprehend and understand this information, you’re not going to be knowledgable on the topic. Collaboration plays a huge roll in the knowledge-making process because you have to collaborate with others ideas to create new knowledge.

I feel like Johnson’s information on good ideas and innovation make it more apparent that knowledge is a collaboration and is always evolving off of the original idea of whatever the topic is.

I feel like my approach will be comparing a lot of articles for my research process and not just using one source. also, creating my own ideas off of my findings.

  1. After reading your post I understand Hylands definition more than I did before. I also like the way that you define knowledge and how it uses the information is a better explanation than what I could’ve given.
